This recording was ready for a physical release on ADD. However, for various reasons it won't happen. Instead it is presented as a free download from this blog. The DL contains 320Kbit/s MP3, album cover and an Acholi phrasebook.

'Lapurupeta' means 'Prophet' in Acholi. It is how the Lord's Revolution Army perceives its leader, Joseph Kony. Born out of a 'Northerner' (Acholi) / 'Southerner' (Baganda) ethnic war in Uganda, the L.R.A.'s ultimate goal is to create a Theocracy in Uganda, based upon the Ten Commandments.

In 1987, commander Odong Latek convinced the Acholi rebels to start abducting children, in order to create the most faithful army, one whose only family would be the other soldiers and their prophetic leader. They targeted Baganda children, thinking that their opponents wouldn't dare to kill their own children on the battlefield.

The L.R.A. has thus abducted about 20.000 children, displaced 1.500.000 civilians and killed 100.000 people since the bush war started in 1987.

The cover for this release is a photo from 1934 of the first Christian sign in Uganda: Father Diogo Cão's cross. Could he have imagined the L.R.A.'s plan to turn Uganda into a Theocracy, using an army of abducted children ?

Created in 1956 to obtain the country's independence, it took power in 1975 and reigned under single-party rule, creating a state of civil war with Jonas Savimbi's U.N.I.T.A.

In 2000, the son of French President François Mitterand, Jean Christophe Mitterand, then head of the Cellule Africaine created to keep control of the former colonies, was accused of participating in a $ 790.000.000 illicit weapon sales in favor of the M.P.L.A. that took place in Angola in 1994.

In court, Jean-Christophe Mitterand recognized having being paid $1.800.000 for his implication in this sale.

He received a deferred sentence of 2 years of imprisonment and a 370.000 euros fine.

In other words, he didn't do any jail time and could keep $1.300.000. 

These weapons were used to kill between 500.000 and 1.000.000 people.
